Please join L.A. Forum Board Member Lilian Pfaff for the series of house tours in Los Angeles. The architects from OAK, and ByBen + Skeens will be joining on the tour to answer questions.
10:00am Twin Peaks by OAK
Located on a Silver Lake secret stair, this two-unit project tackles the challenge of hillside density without sacrificing views or privacy. Designed and built by OAK in 2020, the dramatic roofline was achieved by disconnecting the homes which allowed for increased height limit and simplified foundation construction.
11:00am Stiff Peaks by Ben + Skeens
The client, a filmmaker and poet, acquired an eclectically terraced hillside property abutting Elysian Park in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. Inspired by the whimsical setting, the client wanted to replace an existing shack with a writing studio and guest house that evoked the past but was firmly contemporary. ByBen + Skeens sought to create a multifunctional interior and exterior space that addressed the clients need for a solitary space for creation that let them feel both at home, and away.
